Sri Lanka defeated Australia by eight wickets in the second final of the tri-nation Cricket series in Adelaide today. Mahela Jayawardene and Tilakratne Dilshan took a full toll of a wayward Australia to force deciding third final to be played in Adelaide on Thursday. Chasing 272, the visitors crossed the target with 5.4 overs to spare. Sri Lanka greatly benefitted from a rollicking start when the first 3 overs reaped 30 runs. No fewer than 11 of them were handed over to Sri Lanka via the extras column as Australia's bowlers maintained the poorly form as demonstrated by them in the latter overs of the first final in Brisbane. Dilshan was the first to pass 50 and Jayawardene went on for his second century of the tournament before Dinesh Chandimal and Kumar Sangakkara guided the visitors home.Brief Scores:Australia 271 for six in 50 overs.Sri Lanka 274 for two in 44.2 overs.
