Sri Lanka's military has announced a fivefold increase in troops deployed on UN peacekeeping duties around the world.<br/><br/>Sri Lankan Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya yesterday said at Mankulam that the country was ready to allocate 5,000 officers and men immediately for overseas deployment once the government received the green light from the UN.He said that after the defeat of LTTE last May , more troops could be sent on UN missions.
