Earlier on Tuesday, landslides claimed the lives of three persons including a minor. State Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin has announced an ex gratia of Rs one lakh rupees each to the victim’s families. The Met department has predicted spells of rain or thundershowers in the next 24 hours in the capital region. The region recorded a rainfall of 219.9 MM in the last 12 hours.In view of the rising level of river Siang, a Pre-Disaster Mitigation meeting was held in East Siang district on Tuesday. The meeting decided to put on alert emergency services to meet any eventuality. In Kurung Kumey, landslide occurred at many places with the major ones being at Chaouva and Muir areas. The level of Kurung river is also rising but there has been no flood situation so far. Kurung Kumey DC Bidol Tayeng said BRTF is working round the clock to clear the blockages. In Lohit district, the river levels are also rising. Though there have been some landslides, authorities are working to clear them in time.””’
