In northern China, at least 18 people have been killed and two others injured by a landslide triggered by torrential rain. The weather officials have warned of more downpour to come and asked local authorities to try and implement disaster-prevention measures to avoid further casualties. The landslide tore through the town of Lueyang in Shaanxi province, engulfing 12 houses.
