Land denotification: Court summons Yeddyurappa, Raghavendra, others

The Lokayuktha Court in Karnataka issued summons to former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, his MP son B Y Raghavendra and five other 'benamidars' in a case over alleged denotification of land in Bhadravathi in Shimoga district. Judge N K Sudhindra Rao directed all the seven accused to appear before him on September 25.

The court acted on the complainant which said that Yeddyurappa had abused his office and denotified 69 acres of land at Bhadravathi in 2010. It is also alleged that former Chief Minister used the benamidars to get 250 acres of reserved forest lands transferred in the name of Dhavalagiri Properties, two months after denotifying them.

Dhavalgiri Properties is owned by his sons. The Court also rejected the report of Deputy Commissioner of Shimoga who had ruled out any irregularity in the land deal and sought to bring the matter to the notice of the Chief Secretary.
