Land acquisition is a major problem for development of Metro rail, says Venkaiah Naidu

Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu has termed Land acquisition as a major problem for the development of network of Metro rail across the country. Inaugurating the extension line of metro from Jahangirpuri to Samaypur Badli in North Delhi, Mr Naidu said, states are asking for Metro services but the cost of development is very high. He said, state government and Centre have to work together so that metro network can be developed with minimum cost. The Minister said, there is no problem of Land in Delhi and the state government is also co-operating with the Centre on the issue.<br/><br/>The 4.4 kilometer long Jahangirpuri-Samaypur Badli is an extension of Delhi metro's Yellow Line. Commercial services for the public on the section will be started from 2 PM today. There is three stations Haiderpur, Rohini Sector 18 and Samaypur Badli on the section.<br/><br/>With this extension, the length of yellow line from Samaypur Badli to Huda City Centre will be 49 kilometres long and the total travel time in this section will be around one hour and 20 minutes.
