Land acquisition for Posco project again postponed

Land acquisition for Posco project again postponed In Odisha, the land acquisition for the Rs 52,000 crore Posco steel project near Paradip of Jagatsinghpur district has been stopped again today considering the strong resistance from the local villagers. Eminent social activist, Medha Patkar, visited Gobindpur today and extended her support to the anti-Posco movement. She alleged large-scale violations of human rights in the project area and criticised the Naveen Patnaik government for going ahead with land acquisition without the consent of the local people. Meanwhile, the Odisha government has asked for a report from the Jagatsinghpur district administration on allegations of children being involved in the anti-Posco stir. It has warned stringent action against the parents and organisations for inciting children to join the agitation against land acquisition process for the South Korean steel major, Posco.
