The Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh has expressed confidence that Land Acquisition Bill will be passed in the Winter Session of Parliament. Talking to reporters in New Delhi on Friday, Mr. Ramesh said that he is holding discussions with the leaders of different political parties on the draft bill.
He added that the response of majority of the state governments on the proposed legislation has so far been positive. The bill which was introduced in Parliament in the monsoon session, is now under the consideration of the standing committee.
After his meeting with the chairperson of the standing Committee, Sumitra Mahajan on Thursday, Mr. Ramesh had said that the committee will submit its recommendations in the winter session itself.
