Lalit Modi to be ‘looked out’ at each entry

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a look out circular against former IPL Chairman Lalit Modi at all entry points and airports in the country in connection with its probe into alleged misappropriation of funds in the Twent-20 cricket tournament. The circular empowers the police and other enforcement agencies at these check points to detain the individual who has been flagged and immediately inform the issuing agency in this case about the detention.Adding to the troubles of the sacked IPL Chairman, the ED has also initiated the process of revoking his passport and is examining the FIR filed by the Cricket Board against him for alleged misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 470 crore. The ED had earlier issued an international Blue Notice Alert for detention of Modi for alleged “serious contraventions” of the foreign exchange law in connection with IPL. The Blue Notice bears Modi's photograph and passport number besides other details.Modi, however, has said he had always cooperated with the ED and that he was ready to appear before the agency personally in London or through video conferencing.
