The al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has condemned the US and other industrial economies, holding them responsible for the phenomenon of climate change.

In an audio tape, broadcast on Al Jazeera, bin Laden criticised the former US president George Bush for rejecting the Kyoto pact and condemned global corporations. In the message he also urged a boycott of the US dollar to end, what he called, slavery.

The tape follows one released earlier this week in which the al-Qaeda leader praised a Nigerian man accused of a failed attempt to blow up an airliner heading for Detroit on Christmas Day.
