Ice Hockey players from remote areas of Ladakh region of the Jammu and Kashmir will represent the country in the forthcoming 2017 Ice Hockey Women Challenge cup of Asia in Bangkok, Thailand. The 10-day long championship is beginning from March 6. It is the second time that Ladakhi women ice hockey players will represent the Indian team in an international event. They represented the country in 2016 in Taipei, Chinese in the same event. Deachen Dolker was declared the best player of the team while Noor Jahan was awarded the best goal tender.Due to lack of standard international size ice hockey rink in the country, this year the Ice Hockey Association of India is arranging 10-day long advance coaching for the Indian team at Bishkek, Kirgistan. It is starting from tomorrow. Seven countries including India, New Zeeland, Singapore, UAE, Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand are participating in the event. India will face UAE on March 8 and Philippines on March 9.
