<span style="color: #222222;">Centre and Ladakh Union Territory Administration are focusing on road infrastructure in the region. Several infrastructure projects along the border and inland are being implemented to provide better all season connectivity to the region.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">U T Ladakh is spread in over 64 thousands square kilometres of area.  Due to heavy snowfall during the winters many places are cut off even from their district headquarters. As the tensions prevail in the eastern Ladakh region, the authorities are completing several projects on warfooting. To the existing Srinagar Leh Manali highway, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has made an important alternative route connecting Manali and Leh with the new all weather Darcha -Padum- Nimmu road to provide the strategic connectivity to the forces movement without being traced to the neighbouring countries. This road cuts the travel time by half and the forces could move from Manali to Leh in 7-10 hours. Similarly, this road also reduces the distance from 700 to 522 km between Manali and Kargil.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">On the other hand, the UT administration is in touch with agencies like Border Road Organisation, National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), CPWD and Public works Department to have better connectivity , in the region, in all seasons.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The UT administration has asked the BRO to use the latest technology to improve Road connectivity on the world's highest motorable roads like Khardung la and Chang la during the winter months. These two passes connect the two international borders India shares in this part of the world. BRO has recently completed construction of seven bridges in Ladakh region. To ensure all weather road connectivity to Ladakh and within the region, the UT Administration has specific plans of tunnels at ZojiLa, Khardung la and Shinkun La. As the Atal Tunnel at Rohtang Pass at Manali is ready for inauguration by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all season connectivity between Leh and Manali is ensured from the coming winter season. Fire and Fury Corps Major General Arvind Kapoor said, </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The roads that are ready for traffic and that are near completion do have not just a strategic but socio economic importance for the people in the region. Zanskar, Nubra and Changthang regions in Leh used to get cut off during the winter as the passes get closed with heavy snowfall. Now, people of Zanskar could move to Manali or to Leh without any hindrance.</span><br />
