Ladakh administration mulls over commercial scale sea buckthorn plantations

<span style="color: #222222;">In Ladakh, Union Territory Administration is mulling over commercial scale sea buckthorn plantations. High level meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor R. K. Mathur also discussed handholding for contract farming with entrepreneurs strictly in accordance with guidelines set by the Agriculture Ministry. Mr. Mathur suggested that the Administration must be a facilitator to the entrepreneurs.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The meeting also discussed setting up a Sea Buckthorn Centre of Excellence at Nimmo in Leh with a nursery, orchard, laboratory and a processing unit. The facility is planned to process other locally available high-income generation berries.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Mr Mathur suggested the Administration to avail the expertise of Defence Institute of High-Altitude Research (DIHAR), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and international agencies if required, to produce international standard products with a professional approach.</span><br />''  <br />
