<span style="color: #222222;">In Ladakh, the Union Territory Administration held a meeting on Prioritization of Facilities for retrofitting and related matters, under the National Seismic Risk Mitigation Programme (NSRMP), today.<br />'' <br />'' Adviser to the Lieutenant Governor Umang Narula chaired a follow-up meeting in Leh with NSRMP State Coordinator Prof A Ghosh, National Disaster Management Authority Project Coordinator Dr. Mudit Kapoor, Procurement Specialist and Structural Engineer Nitin Behal and District Administrations of Leh and Kargil.<br />'' <br />'' The Ladakh region falls in Seismic Zone of IV category, with high threat to the buildings and infrastructures in the eventuality of an earthquake.<br />'' <br />''  Along with the Union Territory of Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, Bihar, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Himachal and Uttarakhand are first phase of project under NSRMP.<br />'' <br />'' Mr Narula instructed the District Administrations of Leh and Kargil to deal with the details of disaster management with utmost severity and monitor whole subject. He said, disaster management is all about advanced preparation as we cannot predict the fury of nature.<br />'' <br />'' Divisional Commissioner Saugat Biswas asked the all departments to provide accurate data endorsed by deputy commissioners for better planning by the NDMA.<br />'' <br />'' NSRMP operated by NDMA has appointed Design Development Forum and Aga Khan Development Network as joint venture partners.<br />'' <br />'' Prof A Ghosh said, the data provided will be looked into on various parameters like vulnerability of damage, loss to the life and strategic importance in the event of any calamity.<br />'' <br />''<br />''Accordingly, a Rapid Visual Screening will be conducted on all the structures to assess the need for retrofitting to withstand the earthquakes in the zones.</span><br />
