Ladakh: 1st residential school under Samagra Shiksha Scheme set up in semi nomadic village -Gya

In Union Territory of Ladakh, the first residential school under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme has set up in Upper Ladakh region in a semi-nomadic village -Gya. <br />'' <br />'' Leh Hill Council Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk inaugurated the school yesterday. Leh Correspondent reports that Samagra Shikha Scheme has fulfilled the dream of semi Nomadic village on Leh- Manali national highway, for an accessible residential school in their village. Due to Semi Nomadic nature of life style, the villagers have been demanding a residential school for their wards in the village for quality education.<br />'' <br />'' After the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh selected a residential school under Samagra Scheme for the village and the Village  Education Committee has extended cooperation in setting up hostel facilities  for the students by working with the hill council and education department. Also, two volunteers have joined the school  administration to run the hostel smoothly. <br />'' <br />''Many students studying in private schools have come back to Village to take admission in the new government run residential school. Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk said, Hill Council has decided to convert select schools in remote areas into residential Schools by clubbing other schools to ensure quality and affordability of the public.<br />
