Labour Min inaugurates National Instructional Media Institute at Chennai

The Union Minister for labour and employment Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge has called for an effort to support and provide better employment opportunities for a sustained inclusive growth focussing in particular the shift of surplus labour from agricultural to non agricultural sectors.

Inaugurating a new building at the National Instructional Media Institute at Chennai, the Minister said that in the present scenario, training institutes alone cannot meet the ever increasing demand of a skilled labour force.

He appreciated the role of the National Instructional Media Institute in producing 600 titles covering craftsmen trainees and apprentice ship trainees,

Underling the need for the development of a question bank which is now available for about 75 percent of the trades, Mr.Kharge said that the material should be translated from English to Hindi and other regional languages.

He welcomed the launch of the web portal for online learning of its instructional material in order to cater to the needs of the upcoming generation.
