L K Advani asks newly elected BJP MPs to remain in touch with party workers in their constituencies

Senior BJP leader L K Advani today asked the newly elected party MPs to constantly remain in touch with party workers in their constituencies to build a strong relationship with them.

In his valedictory address at the workshop of party's newly elected MPs in Surajkund, Haryana, Mr. Advani appealed them to refrain from arrogance and start work from today to bring BJP to power in next general elections in 2019 also.

He said the party MPs have a new responsibility to perform inside and outside parliament as the Congress does not even have adequate MPs to have its recognized Leader of Opposition.

L K Advani also said A.K. Antony’s statement about Congress' approach to secularism has vindicated BJP's stand saying it may lead to a change in the Congress' thinking on secularism. At a function in Kerala, in the recent past, Mr. Antony had said that the growing proximity of Congress to minority communities has created doubts among some sections of society about its secular credentials.

In his concluding address at the party's newly elected MPs' workshop in Surajkund in Haryana, Mr. Advani said the BJP had been saying all along what Mr. Antony has said now. He said his party has always maintained that secularism should mean justice for all and appeasement of none. Senior BJP leader said, there is already a perceptible change in the thinking of minority communities about the BJP and in many constituencies they have voted in significant numbers for it in the recent elections.

Briefing media about the workshop, party leader and Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said that Mr. Advani said, there is an unrest in the Congress after formation of BJP led government at the centre and the statements of leaders like Antony reflects it.

He also said that Mr. Advani appreciated the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for party's landslide victory in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls as well as the work done by the NDA government in the last one month.

Earlier in the day, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, party leader Ram Naik and RSS pointperson with BJP Suresh Soni also addressed the function.
