<span style="color: #222222;">Khadi and Village Industries Commission Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena today said that the Commission has been consistently promoting khadi and rural industries in the North-Eastern region as a part of the Government of India's development initiatives. Addressing the media persons, Mr Saxena said that North-Eastern region is now a focus area of the KVIC as this sector has tremendous possibilities which will in turn speed up development in the rural areas of the region. Currently, KVIC is witnessing an average growth of 29 per cent all over the country, he added.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' The KVIC Chairman informed that the Commission will launch a project called Reducing Elephant-Human Attacks tomorrow using Honey Bees (RE-HAB) at Dahikata and Mornoi village at Goalpara district of Assam. In order to prevent Man-Elephant conflicts, the Bee Boxes would be used as a fence to prevent the attack of Elephants, a total of 330 Bee boxes will be given to 33 farmers and it will reduce the loss of lives of both human and elephants.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Talking about Kumhar Sashaktikaran Yojana (KSY), the Chairman said that the KVIC has created proper channels including tying up with the Railways for selling the production of the potters. In an initiative for empowerment of communities working in the pottery sector in the remotest locations in the country,  the Commission distributed 1,430 electricity pottery wheels in North East region during the last three years.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Mr Saxena said that under the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) 2.84 lakh people have been employed in this region and has set up a total of 35,555 units till now.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Other programmes of KVIC include Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI), Agarbatti manufacturing and Honey Mission for which an amount of 49.78 crore rupees has been approved to upgrade the income of unemployed youths. Under the Honey Mission, 3,005 beneficiaries received 30,060 Bee Boxes and 15.44 crore rupees as grant for the entrepreneurs of this region, informed the Chairman.Lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to the growth of the khadi industry, Mr Saxena said  with a view to make the traditional industries more productive and competitive and facilitating their sustainable development, the Government of India is setting up a fund for regeneration of traditional industries.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />''<br />''Dr Sukumal Deb, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, N.E.
