Kuwait PM arriving in capital today on India visit

The Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah is arriving in New Delhi this evening on a four day state visit. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials and captains of industry. During his stay, he will call on President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice-President Hamid Ansari and will also hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on tomorrow. He will attend a business luncheon meeting jointly organised by the three business chambers, FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM.

Elaborating on the special relationship that India is having with Kuwait, the Joint Secretary in the External Affairs Ministry, Mridul Kumar said that Kuwait is one of the major suppliers of crude oil to India. He said, about 10 per cent of total oil imports come from this Gulf country and New Delhi wants to further strengthen its relationship form buyer- seller to a strategic level. Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber and his delegation would also be visiting Agra.
