<span style="color: #222222;">In Gujarat, Kutch district is gear up for rainwater harvesting in a response to a personal letter received from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting all 620 Village Chiefs, Sarpanch, to conserve rainwater during the forthcoming monsoon.<br />'' <br />'' Mr Modi has said each Village Chief should convene a Gram Sabha to ensure total public participation for devising ways to collect and retain each drop of rainwater from runoff and conserve it.<br />'' <br />'' Mr Prabhav Joshi, District Development Officer, Kutch, has said Village Chiefs feel happy and honoured as Mr Modi wrote them a one-page personal letter. He has also said rainwater harvesting structures are put in place in a building of schools, community halls and govt dispensaries.<br />'' <br />'' Mr Suresh Chhanga, Village Pradhan and Sarpanch, Kunariya Gram Panchayat, has said deepening of village pond is completed and rainwater collection structures are erected in public and private residential property.<br />'' <br />'' Mr Iqbal Ghanchi, Village Pradhan, Mota Angiya Gram Panchayat, has said water has always been a scarce resource for Kutch, so Prime Minister has rightly said rainwater showered on a village must be conserved in own village only.<br />'' <br />'' Being a rain deficit region always, Kutch district is being provided Narmada waters through the pipeline, but the sustainable solution is to harness rainwater and made village self-reliant in the utilization of own water resources.</span><br />
