Kurukshetra Zila Parishad of Haryana has been chosen for National Panchayati Raj Award for implementing all Central Government schemes in all 419 villages in the district. It ranks at the top in the State and among 15 those Zila Parishads in the country which have provided all basic amenities in rural areas. An official spokesman said in Chandigarh that central government surveyed all the villages of the district. It was found that 419 villages of Kurukshetra district are equipped with facilities like clean drinking water, sanitation and public conveniences. 250 villages of the district have been honoured with ‘Nirmal Gram Puraskars’ for the year 2010-11.
