Kudunkulam nuclear plant to start producing power by next month

Minister of State in Prime Minister’s office V. Narayanasamy has said the Kudankulam Nuclear Plant will start functioning within a month. Speaking to newsmen in Chennai, he said uranium filling work at the plant has been completed.

The first unit of the plant being built with Russian collaboration is expected to go critical within the next 10 days and start producing power by next month. The second unit of Kudankulam will begin by March next year.

In reply to a question the Minister said the economic situationin the country would improve and pointed out that the announcement of FDI in retail has attracted more investments.
