Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj today accepted the resignation of three tainted ministers, who quit in the wake of a controversy over allegedly watching porn video clippings in the state Assembly. Agencies quoting Raj Bhavan sources sais that the resignation of Minister for Cooperation Laxman Savadi, Minister for Women and Child Development C C Patil and Minister for Ports Krishna Palemar were accepted. Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda had earlier today forwarded the resignation of the ministers.
The ministers later said that they have resigned as they do not want the party and the government to face embarrassment. The state's opposition parties sought resignation of the three ministers and parts of the state also witnessed protests on Tuesday.
Congress demanded that the three ministers should be arrested while asking the Assembly Speaker to suspend them. BJP said it has set an example of high moral standards and probity in public life by asking the ministers to resign. Party leader Mr. Dhananjay Kumar told reporters in Banglore that the party high command took this decision of asking the three ministers, to submit their resignation.
