K’taka to approach SC for seeking revision of its order to release 2.44 tmc ft of Cauvery water to TN

Karnataka will file a review petition before the Supreme Court seeking revision of its order directing the state to release 2.44 tmc ft of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. The decision was arrived at after a meeting of floor leaders of both the Houses of the legislature. Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar had convened the meeting yesterday to discuss the situation arising out of the apex court's directive. Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai told reporters that the review petition was likely to be moved on Monday. He said that Karnataka is struggling for drinking water while Tamil Nadu is asking for water for its standing crops.
