In Karnataka, the state machinery is on high alert after outbreak of bird flu in the Central Poultry Development Organisation in Hessarghatta near Bangalore. One square Kilometer area around the Organisation has been sealed and ban has been imposed on sale and transport of chicken. The Principle Secretary of Animal Husbandry Mr.Arvind Jannu informed that the culling of remaining infected birds and sanitising the cells where birds are reared would continue for the next 10 days. He said there had been no incidents of avian flu affecting birds outside as swift action was taken to prevent the disease from spreading. More from our Correspondent.
