Karnataka has released Cauvery water to Tamilnadu to abide by the Supreme Court order which directed the State to release 2.44 tmc ft of Cauvery water. The Executive Engineer in KRS has informed that 2000 cusecs of water was released out of the dam till now. The water level at KRS dam stood at 81 feet before release of water.

Former Chief Minister and President of Karnataka Janatha Party has asked Chief Minister Jagadish Shetter to step down for failing to protect the interest of the state. He charged that Shetter has betrayed the people of the State by failing to convince the court that people here are facing acute shortage of drinking water.
