In Karnataka, an average 22 percent polling was recorded till 12 noon in the 28 lok Sabha seats in the state. Polling was delayed at a few booths due to EVM problem.
There are 434 candidates in fray including 20 women candidates. Around four crore 60 lakh registered voters in the state are spread across 54,264 polling booths.
Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda and his son H D Kumaraswamy are contesting from JD(S). Union Ministers Mallikarjuna Kharge, Veerappa Moily and K H Muniyappa are seeking re election from their respective constituencies.
Former Chief Minister Dharam Singh from Congress, B S Yeddyurappa and D V Sadanand Gowda and former Union Minister Ananth Kumar are contesting from BJP. Technocrats Nandan Nilekani is countering Ananth Kumar in Bangalore South constituency.
Nilekani is fighting the election on a Congress ticket. Former Chief Justice, IAS, IPS officers, cine stars and technocrats are in the fray. AAP has fielded many professionals in the state.
