The Chief Minister of Karnataka Mr.Jagadish Shetter has called a meeting of floor leaders political parties in the legislative Assembly and Council to discuss the State's stand during the Cauvery River Authority meeting to be held by Prime Minister on 19th of this month. In a goodwill gesture, Karnataka government had agreed before the Supreme Court to release 10,000 cusecs of water from Cauvery river to Tamil Nadu everyday, till September 20. The Janata Dal (Secural) members staged a protest in Mandya today against the State decision to release water to Tamilnadu. They opposed the release as Karnataka is reeling under severe drought for last two years due to lack of rainfall. The Government has rushed extra police force to Mandya . Strict security arrangements have also been made around KRS Dam . Supreme Court yesterday hoped that the meeting of Cauvery River Authority will find some amicable solution to the problem of cauvery water sharing during the time of distress.
