The Karnataka High Court Division Bench has set aside the State Government order of appointment of Uplokayukta Justice Chandrasekaraiah, saying that laid procedures and guidelines were not followed. The Bench headed by the Chief Justice Vikramjit Sen observed that the state goverment should frame appropriate rules and procedures for the appoinment of Lokayukta and Uplokayukta. The order states that Chief Justice should have been consulted before filling the office of Lokayukta or Uplokayukta. Reacting to the Judgement, the Chief Minister Sadanand Gowda has said that the Government will appeal before Supreme Court against the High court order. Justice Chandrashekaraiah, a retired Judge from Karnataka High court was sworn in January 22 as second Uplokayukta and Justice Sen has written to Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda for his “recall” on February 4.
