Former Chief Minister of Karnataka, B S Yeddyurappa and Housing Minister V Somanna were granted anticipatory bail by Karnataka High Court today in the land denotification case. Judge Subhash B Adi noted in his judgement that the allegations of abuse of power, conspiracy and possibilities of tampering with evidence are not cleary established in the complaint and hence anticipatory bail can be granted. The Judge however imposed conditions with two surety bonds of two lakh rupees each to all the accused in the case. The case is pertaining to a private complaint lodged in the Lokayuktha court regarding denotification of 22 guntas of land in Bangalore allegedly owned by wife of Housing Minister V Somanna. The complainant Ravi Krishnareddy has alleged that denotification permission was given by Yeddyurappa to please V Somanna who quit Congress party and joined BJP in 2009. Minister V Somanna’s wife Shailaja and original owner of the land, Lingaiah are other accused in this case.
