Karnataka Lokayuktha Justice Shivraj Patil has disclosed that the State Government will be asked to amend Lokayuktha Act to provide greater functional role while acting against corrupt officials. Speaking to media persons in Bangalore on Tuesday, Justice Patil said an action plan and road map will be prepared by this month end in this regard. He informed that conviction rate in Lokayuktha cases has gone up to 45 percent this year. But he stressed that corruption is so rampant within the system that Lokayuktha has to further strengthen its muscles at prosecution, trial and conviction levels. When asked about the Governor’s comment about Lokayuktha report on illegal mining which indicts former Chief Ministers Yeddyurappa and Kumaraswamy among others, Justice Patil said it is being examined and soon action will be initiated on it.
