Karnataka government has renewed its demand to the Centre for a 2,000 crore rupees special package for farmers in drought-hit areas. Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar interacted with the 15-member Central team deputed for an on-the-spot study of the scarcity conditions. Shettar told reporters in Bangalore that the Government has so far spent 2,200 crore rupees on drought relief. He said, the state had sought over 11400 crore rupees assistance, but the Centre has provided 700 crore rupees in the last two years which the state was entitled under calamity relief.
