K’taka Governor calls upon private educational institutions to establish world class institutions

Karnataka Governor, Shri H R Bharadwaj called upon private educational institutions to come forward to establish world class institutions of higher learning in the country. Speaking at the inauguration of National conference on Higher Education in Bangalore today, the Governor said that he is in favour of private universities, which could produce world class professionals, who could compete globally. Saying that he has spoken to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Karnataka on allowing private Universities, the Governor applauded the role played by two private Universities established in Karnataka. The President of Education Promotion Society of India, Dr.Viswanathan also spoke on this occasion. The Conference discussed ways of building sufficient educational institutions in the country by 2025, to provide admissions to all who seek higher learning. The views were expressed in the Conference that Indian parents spend biggest share of their income on the education of their children, still getting admission into premier institution of higher learning is next to impossible. It was informed that only 14 percent of the eligible students get admissions into higher learning courses and three lakh students opt for foreign universities every year due to the scarcity here.
