Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister R Ashoka visited Imphal as a good will mission this afternoon to instill confidence of safety and security of North-East people including students in the state.
Speaking to mediapersons at Imphal Mr, Ashoka said, state government has taken up adequate measures for safety and security of North-East people in the state.
He said, educational institutions where North-East students are studying and work places of the North-East people have been provided with adequate security to prevent any untoward incident.
AIR Imphal Correspondent reports, just after arriving at Imphal, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister R Ashoka met state Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh.
Later, he interacted with students along with their guardians and employees who have recently left Karnataka fearing of an Assam like violent situation in the state.
He appealed to all the Manipuris who have left the state to come back to Karnataka.
The Deputy Chief Minister also assured that all precautionary measures have been taken up by the state government to create a safe and secure environment for the people of North-East in the state. He also said that 22 people have been arrested and 17 cases have been registered so far in connection with spreading rumours of communal hatred.
