K’taka CM writes to PM to consult state before forming Cauvery Management Board

Chief Minister of Karnataka Jagadish Shetter informed on the sidelines of legislative Assembly that he has written to the Prime Minister to consult the state before forming the Cauvery Management Board. He explained that original suit on Cauvery river water sharing is pending before the Supreme Court, as also the clarification petition is also pending in the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal and hence the Central Government should call a meeting of all the four Chief Ministers of Cauvery belt before constituting the Board. During the Cauvery Monitoring Committee meeting last week, it was informed that the Cauvery Management Board and the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee will be constituted to sort out the difficulties in sharing of water in the Cauvery basin without any outside influence. Similar Boards like the Bhakra Beas Management Board and the Tungabhadra Board are working similarly in sharing of water between co-basin states.
