Krishna visits IPKF in Colombo, paid tributes to soldiers

External Affairs Minister SM Krishna today visited the Indian Peace Keeping Force, IPKF Memorial in Colombo and paid floral tributes to the martyrs of the Indian Army who laid their lives between 1987 and 1990 during the peace keeping operations in Sri Lanka. Mr Krishna is the first political dignitary to pay homage at the IPKF memorial in Colombo.

In his remarks in the Visitors' Book kept at the IPKF Memorial, External Affairs Minister stated that it was a matter of pride for him to be at the IPKF Memorial in Sri Lanka, raised in honour of the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who paid their ultimate sacrifice while serving the cause of peace in Sri Lanka. Mr. Krishna said, this Memorial is an abiding testimony to the strong bonds of friendship between the governments and the peoples of India and Sri Lanka. He said, it is also a symbol of India’s commitment to the unity, stability and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka.
