External Affairs Minister S M Krishna is participating in the ninth India-ASEAN Post Ministerial Conference in Bali. He will join discussions in the East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers Consultations and the ASEAN Regional Forum Ministerial Meeting for two days from 22nd of July. According to a press release issued by the ministry of external affairs ministry India-ASEAN Ministerial meeting will review cooperation and deliberate on its future direction, particularly in the context of the India-ASEAN commemorative summit to be hosted in New Delhi in December 2012. The Ministers will also exchange views on regional and international issues of interest to both the sides. India and the member countries adopted a plan of action for 2010-15 during the eighth ASEAN-India summit held on 30th October 2010 at Hanoi. Our correspondent reports that the trade between India and ASEAN reached 55.21 billion US dollars in the financial year ending March 2011. There is a target of 70 billion dollars by 2012. Both the sides have signed a Trade in Goods agreement and the notification process in respect of all signatories will be complete by the time their Economic Ministers meet in Manado, Indonesia, on 13th of next month. India-ASEAN cooperation covers a wide canvas, including growing ties in trade and investment, science and technology, space sciences, transport and infrastructure, rail, air and sea connectivity, education, information and communication technology, health and pharmaceuticals, energy and tourism.
