External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna today stressed on the need for India and Bangladesh to have good cooperation in the fight against terrorism. Delivering a lecture at the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies in Dhaka, Mr.Krishna said the two countries faced new challenges and non-traditional security threats due to the rise of religious fundamentalism, extremism and terrorism.He said that it is imperative for the two countries to join hands to fight terrorism in all its forms and manifestation to ensure stability, development, peace and prosperity in both the countries.Responding to a question about whether India would be using the transit facility to be provided by Bangladesh for transport of arms and ammunition required for security operations in the North East, Mr. Krishna asserted that India will be using the transit facility only for peaceful purposes. Earlier in the morning, Mr.Krishna inaugurated the newly built Kalabhavan complex of Dhaka University with financial assistance from India. Later, Mr. Krishna held discussions with theLeader of the Opposition and BNP leader Begum Khaleda Zia before leaving for Delhi on the completion of his three-day visit to Bangladesh
