External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna will be on a three day official visit to Nepal from Wednesday. Mr. Krishna’s visit is the highest level visit from India since JhalaNath Khanal assumed office as Prime Minister in February. The External Affairs Minister will call on Nepal's President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal and will also meet other political leaders. Bilateral level talks are to be held from Wednesday. The Minister will also visit Birgunj to lay the foundation stone of the Terai Roads Project and of the Integrated Check Post which are being constructed with Indian cooperation. The visit assumes significance as political parties are sharply divided over the peace process and the deadline of May 28 for a new constitution approaches. The visit is expected to pave the way for the Nepali Prime minister's official visit to India next month.
