Krishna heads to Hanoi to attend India-Vietnam Jt commission meeting

Implementation of initiatives and decisions taken by India and Vietnam will come up for discussion in the Joint Commission meeting of the two countries in Hanoi tomorrow.

The External Affairs Minister Mr. S. M. Krishna is on way to Vietnam to attend the meeting. They will also look at the road map to take the relations further and inject momentum to the strategic partnership. A Spokesman of External Affairs Ministry today said that cooperation in capacity building, human resources development and skill enhancement will also come up for talks in the Commission.

Enhancing trade to realize its full potential will also figure prominently in the discussions. The bilateral trade is at 3.6 billion dollars which is almost double the target set for 2010-11. The spokesman said Vietnam is keen to seek Indian investments in the areas of high technology, IT, biotechnology, auto components, pharmaceuticals, food processing and medical equipments.

Our correspondent reports that the Joint Commission meeting will be preparatory to the forthcoming visit of the President of Vietnam to India.
