External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna has called upon Indian Ambassadors and Heads of Missions to interact faster with Indians facing distress situations. He was addressing Ambassadors from West Asia and North Africa region in Cairo today. Those attended also include Indian envoys from Morocco, Algeria, Palestinian authority Algeria, Lebanon. Krishna urged them to improve the quality and timely delivery of services at the Indian consulates and embassies.
He said, embassies and consulates have been asked to evolve a new mechanism to redress the grievances in timely manner. Indian Ambassador will now designate two hours every week to meet such Indian in distress. All Embassies will have an earmarked a welfare officer who will be accessible on the open days to meet Indian national every week . According to new accountably system ,Ambassadors will monitor the responses.
