The External Affairs Minister S M Krishna today asked Australian government to stop attacks on Indians there and bring those elements to book who are responsible for such acts. He said such acts may adversely affect the education, tourism and people to people contacts. Reacting to the latest attack on an Indian cabbie in Melbourne, Mr. Krishna said continued attacks on Indians in Australia do not augur well for bilateral relations and asked Australian government to find out the real motive behind these attacks so that it is clear whether it is a racial feeling or urban crime.

The Minister said he was expecting a report from the Indian High Commissioner to Australia on the incident. He has already indicated the possibility of Government advising Indian students not to go to Australia if the attacks on them continued.
