Olympic silver medallist P V Sindhu has progressed to the semifinals of women's singles at the Korea Open Super Series badminton tournament. In Seoul today, Sindhu recovered from a mid-game slump to stave off the challenge from World No. 19 Minatsu Mitani of Japan in three games 21-19, 16-21, 21-10. Sindhu, who is now the sole Indian left in the tournament, will next face either third seed Sung Ji Hyun or China's He Bingjiao. In men's singles today, Sameer Verma lost to top seed Son Wan of Korea in three games 22-20, 10-21, 13-21 in the quarter-finals. India's men's doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty also bowed out at the last eight stage. The pair lost to third-seeded Japanese combination of Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda 14-21, 21-17, 15-21.
