India's PV Sindhu stormed into the quarterfinals of the Korea Open Badminton Championships 2022, today. She defeated Japan's Aya Ohori in straight sets 21-15, and 21-10. The third-seeded Indian will next face Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan, whom she had defeated in the final of Swiss Open last month. However, the country's other fast-rising shuttler Malvika Bansod failed to advance to the quarterfinals. She lost to Thailand's Pornpawee Chochuwong 8-21 14-21 in the second-round women's singles clash.
Meanwhile, World Championship bronze medallist Lakshya Sen's run at the tournament ended with a straight-game loss to Indonesia's Shesar Hiren Rhustavito in the second round of men's singles today. In the mixed doubles, Sumeeth Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa went down to the fifth seed Chinese combine of Ou Xuan Yi and Huang Ya Qiong 20-22 21-18 14-21.
