In Kolkata a professor of the Jadavpur University and one of his neighbors were arrested for allegedly circulating defamatory cartoons of West Bengal Chief Minister Miss Mamata Banerjee and some other Trinamool Congress leaders on a social networking site today. The arrest of Ambikesh Mohapatra, a chemistry professor sparked an outrage with opposition CPI (M) and the academic community saying that the police action is highly atrocious and attack on the democratic freedom of expression. The professor was later granted bail by the Alipur Court in the city.
