Kolkata Metro Rail carried record 32,84,516 passengers during Durga Puja

Metro Railway, Kolkata created a record by carrying 32,84,516 passengers during the Durga Puja Days i.e. from Panchami to Dashami. This is 21.64% higher against 27,00,088 passengers carried during the Puja days of the previous year i.e. 2011. Metro Railway also surpassed all previous records by earning 1,68,70,554 rupees during Puja days from ticket sale. This is 12.90% more as against 1,49,42,873 rupees during the Puja days of the last year. This year, Metro arranged 1158 services during this Puja, which is 251 more than that of the previous year.It is mentioned that for the convenience of the Metro users, security arrangement in Metro Railway was strengthened during the Puja days due to running of Metros overnight on three consecutive days from Saptami to Navami. On receiving complaint from passengers (a couple) at Rabindra Sarovar station, prompt action was initiated and alert Metro’s security personnel identified a gang of four miscreants and caught them the moment the train arrived at the very next station i.e. Mahanayak Uttam Kumar station. Later on, they were handed over to the Regent Park Police station.
