Kolkata International film festival to begin on Nov 10

The week-long 15th Kolkata Film Festival will get underway in Kolkata from November 10, showcasing 228 films from 56 counties. Chief Minister Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, whose Information and Cultural Affairs Department is organising the festival , told a press conference in Kolkata this evening that there will be 185 features, 38 short films and five documentaries. He said in selecting the films, their social relevance and aesthetic acceptability have been kept in consideration. <br/>He said while the focus for the festival would be Mexico, films from other Latin American countries like Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela,besides Algeria, Armenia, Bhutan, Cyprus, Nepal and Pakistan have also been included.<br/>This time, six films of US filmmaker Elia Kazan and five made by Bimal Roy have been included in 'Centenary<br/>Tributes' section, while the work of Federico Fellini (Italy), Rogerio Sganzeria (Brazil), Ousmane Sembene (Senegal) and Yilmaz Guney (Turkey) will be shown under the 'Homage' section.<br/>Films by Polish director Andrej Wajda, Marta Meszaros (Hungary) and Caroline Link (Germany) would be shown under the 'Honour' section.<br/> <br/>
