In Kolkata, the relief and rescue operation continues at the accident site where an at Ganesh Talkies in Burrabazar area where tragedy struck on Thursday after the collapse of an under construction bridge killing 24 people while 89 people were left injured. <br/><br/>Leading the massive rescue operations since overnight along with Army-men, Police and civilian workers, NDRF DIG Guleria said, the worst pockets of debris where most of the people lay crushed have been removed and the Rabindra Sarani stretch of the Ganesh Talkies crossing will be opened both for pedestrians and the traffic in the afternoon. <br/><br/>He informed that the Vivekananda Road-KK Tagore Street side of the crossing will take time to be cleared as massive slabs and concrete mass of the under-construction flyover collapsed on this stretch.<br/><br/>Acting tough, Kolkata Police has lodged cases of murder and attempt to murder under IPC sections 302, 307, 120 and 427 against the office bearers of IVRCL Ltd., the Hyderabad based construction company that was erecting the road bridge. Five of their officials have been taken into custody today and interrogated while most of the managers giving the cops a slip. <br/><br/>BJP leader Mkhtar Abbas Naqvi who visited the accident site with Siddharth Nath Singh today criticized the state government for the time that the state machinery took to gear up for rescue operations. He said that many more lives could have been saved but for the initial slow response.
