The Kolkata police has mounted a search for the defiant Culcatta High Court judge CS Karnan following the Supreme Court verdict that held him guilty of contempt of court. <br/><br/>On Tuesday, the Constitutional Bench of the apex court led by Chief Justice JS Khehar handed him a six-month jail sentence and directed the Kolkata Police to execute the order immediately. <br/><br/>Justice Karnan was in a government guest house in Chennai the same day and therefore a high-level team led by West Bengal Director General of Police Surajit Kar Purkayastha arrived in Chennai yesterday. <br/><br/>They met the Chennai Police Commissioner Karan Singha and formed a joint team to arrest Justice Karnan. However, he was not traceable in Chennai and therefore a sub-team went to the nearby temple town of Srikalahasti in Andhra Pradesh and Tada based on information that he had gone there. <br/><br/>However, he remains elusive and therefore the team has returned back to Chennai. The police is expected to continue their search operation to execute the Apex Court order today as well.
