In Nepal, the Chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist) Prachanda and the Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala today agreed to explore a middle path to adopt a common resolution in parliament to end the current political deadlock. Talking to newsmen after their meeting in Kathmandu this afternoon, Prachanda expressed optimism that a solution would be found in the next few days to resolve the current political impasse. Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala who was present in the meeting told newsmen that the meeting between the two leaders decided to form a high level political mechanism to resolve differences among the political parties and take forward the peace and constitution drafting processes.Meanwhile, normal session the parliament resumed today after several months of continuous disruption by the opposition Unified CPN (Maoist) over the issue of President’s action on reinstating the former army chief and restoring civilian supremacy. AIR Kathmandu Correspondent reports that the Maoist have decided not to disrupt the parliament proceedings for three days to pave the way for passage of the annual budget.
